BREAKING: MPSSAA championship games will be held in ‘closed gym format’

By The Sports Pulse

A letter from Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) regarding ‘closed gym format’ for upcoming championship games.

Dear Members of The Media,

The MPSSAA, Towson University, and the University of Maryland have been working collaboratively regarding any changes to the state basketball championships. Unfortunately, recent developments have forced all entities to determine the events will be held in a closed gym format, but will remain at Towson University and the University of Maryland.

The state basketball championships will be closed to all meda. The MPSSAA will be broadcasting each game live via the NFHS Network and will provide each of you with a conference call login number to conduct interviews with selected student-athletes and coaches.

A lot of hard work goes into preparing for these championships and while unfortunate, the safety of participants and fans is the primary focus of the MPSSAA and local school systems. We appreciate your assistance as we work through all logistical changes in the next 24 hours.
