Howard Football Season Altered

Howard University Athletics has decided to move the football team to a spring 2021 non-conference schedule after the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) announced its suspension of the spring 2021 conference football season on Feb. 11.

The MEAC fell under 50-percent of the conference participation policy due to numerous institutions opting out of the upcoming 2021 spring season.

“We are providing an opportunity for our student-athletes to compete, after working so hard to prepare for this unprecedented season,” said Athletic Director Kery Davis. “As always, the health and safety of our student-athletes remain our top priority and we will continue to follow the D.C. and CDC health and safety guidelines.

Howard will play MEAC rivals Delaware State and South Carolina State for an undecided amount of games. An approved schedule to be announced at a later date.

Howard University Athletics will continue to align with the District of Columbia and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention health and safety protocols.
