PHOTOS: Portland Thorns vs. Washington Spirit in NWSL action
Simone Charley’s header goal in the 29th minute was enough to help the Portland Thorns defeat the Washington Spirit 1-0 Saturday night at Segra Field in Leesburg, Virginia.
It is the Spirit’s third loss in four matches and its third straight at the Loudoun County soccer venue. The result also puts Washington (5-5-3, 18 points) one point behind OL Reign for the final playoff spot with OL Reign.
The Spirit will go on the road to face the Houston Dash Friday.
