In the inaugural Montgomery County Public Schools Boys Basketball County Championship, Tre Scott scored 17 points to help the Winston Churchill High School’s boys basketball team defeat Damascus 69-47.
The Bulldogs (20-1) held Damascus to a season-low 47 points in the inaugural title game between the county’s best 4A and 3A teams based on regular-season records.
They enter the Maryland state playoffs as a No. 1 seed in regional play and face Walter Johnson on Monday, Feb. 28.
Damascus’ Mandela Tarke scored a game-high 23 points in the loss. The Hornets (18-2) also enter the state playoffs as a No. 1 seed and face Kennedy in the second round.
